Corum and Corum reproduce Nikola Tesla's BL production technique!
This type of BL arises when RF arcs with impulsive envelopes
vaporise carbon, and the Corums believe the phenomena to be a sort of
stable combustion process with carbon or copper and ozone, with a
diffusion-limited agglomeration structure (aerogel) which somehow
slows the combustion process. Their 'fireballs' range in size
up to 5cm, last several seconds, change color with time, and some-
times terminate existance with a bang. Numerous photos and video
stillframes of the phenomena.

Two Austrian BL data banks (ABLD 1, 150 cases, and ABLD 2, 103 cases) were analyzed together with the Central European BL data bank (CEBLD, 160 cases, mostly German), in a research project supported by Verbund (Austria's main electricity company) and Siemens. Data collection (witness contacts in 90% of the cases) by the first author had used one field investigation and questionnaire scheme since 1974, which means high internal consistency.

Prof. Yoshi-Hiko Ohtsuki
Yoshi-Hiko Ohtsuki (1936) is professor of physics at Waseda University in Tokyo, Japan. In 1988 he organized at Waseda University the First International Symposium on Ball Lightning, attended by 54 scientists from 8 countries. He edited its hard-cover proceedings, which appeared in 1989. As founder and head of the Japanese Information Center on Ball Lightning (Fire ball), he collected some 2000 eyewitness reports from Japan, and initiated laboratory reproduction experiments with chemical combustion and microwave resonance facilities. In 1987 prof. Ohtsuki organized the Fifth International Symposium on Ball Lightning at Tsugawa Town, with reviewed contributions, and proceedings available at registration. As author of a popular book on ball lightning, and as TV commentator prof. Ohtsuki keeps "hinotama" in the public eye and on the political agenda of his country.
